Celebrating Hanukkah with Stylish Outfits and Stunning Menorahs from Saks Fifth Avenue

Hanukkah Outfit

As a proud Jewish woman, the upcoming celebration of Hanukkah holds a special place in my heart. Hanukkah, known as the Festival of Lights, is a time for reflection and joy, commemorating the resilience of the Jewish people during a challenging period in history. I have partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to bring you some perfect outfit ideas for celebrating the holidays in style, as well as the most STUNNING menorah that I am in love with.

Hanukkah Style: Comfortably Festive

Hanukkah gatherings are usually casual, homey affairs, making them the ideal setting for outfits that are comfortable yet chic. This holiday isn’t about glitz and glam; it's about feeling cozy and festive in your own skin. That’s why I’m loving outfits that pair a bit of shine with casual elements, like a gold metallic skirt teamed with a simple T-shirt. This combination strikes the perfect balance between holiday sparkle and relaxed comfort.

The Menorah: A Symbol of Light and Elegance

When it comes to Hanukkah decorations, the menorah, or Hanukkiah, takes center stage. This year, I'm enamored with the Michael Aram Ginkgo Butterfly Menorah available at Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s not just a menorah; it’s a piece of art that can elevate any space it's in. Whether you’re looking for a gift or updating your own Hanukkah decor, this menorah is a perfect choice. And remember, it’s never too late to add a beautiful piece to your collection for future celebrations!

The History of Hanukkah

Before diving further into styling tips, let’s take a moment to reflect on the history of Hanukkah. This holiday holds deep historical significance for us as Jewish people. It commemorates the time in the 2nd century BCE (around 164 BCE) when the Maccabees fought for our right to practice Judaism.

At that time, the Greek king (Antiochus IV) made Jewish practices such as circumcision illegal. And he desecrated the holy temple in Jerusalem - erecting an altar to Zeus and slaughtering pigs at the temple altar.

When the Maccabees returned to the holy temple it was destroyed. And there was only enough pure oil to last one day, however it lasted eight! That’s the Hanukkah miracle. The miracle of the Hanukkah oil, symbolizes hope and resilience, something we honor by lighting our menorahs for eight nights.

Lighting the Way: The Menorah Tradition

The menorah isn’t just about lighting candles; it’s about bringing light into the darkness. Traditionally placed in front of our homes, it serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder to be a light unto the nations. In Israel, many homes even have special niches at the front door to showcase their Hanukkah menorahs, illuminating streets and neighborhoods.

Styling for Hanukkah Evenings

Now, back to what to wear for those cozy Hanukkah evenings. Think of combining textures and colors that feel festive yet relaxed. I’m currently obsessed with this gold, pleated, foil-coated leather skirt. Its lightweight, asymmetric pleating is perfect for home gatherings. Style it down with a graphic tee and a pair of comfy boots, and you've got the perfect Hanukkah party outfit!

Lastly, let's talk about the Michael Aram Butterfly Ginkgo Menorah again. It's a showstopper. The intricate design, mixing metals, and open structure make it more than just a ritual object – it's a centerpiece that will spark conversations and admiration. And remember, mixing metals is perfectly fine!! His whole new collection at Saks is just beautiful.

For our friends observing other holidays, we hope your days are merry, bright, and filled with festive cheer. In the end, no matter what we celebrate, it’s these moments of togetherness, reflection, and kindness that truly make the season magical.

Happy holidays to all, and may your celebrations be as stylish as they are heartfelt!
