The Coolest Evening Bags for a Night Out.

The Coolest Evening Bags for a Night Out.

Evening bags. The last puzzle piece.
Evening bags are often a void in our clients wardrobes when we first meet with them.  At one point I wasn’t any different – btw, it’s Elana writing this week.  When I first started working with Hallie, (meaning, as a client “worked” – if you didn’t know I started as a client, you can read about it here.) Anyway, back then,  I didn’t have an evening bag to my name. I would either stuff my pockets with my belongings or call my Mother-In-Law (whom is a very good sharer) in a panic begging to borrow one of hers. Hallie called my void, “a hole in my wardrobe”.  The problem was I would concentrate so much on the perfect outfit for the occasion that I’d forget the last piece to the puzzle, which was the essential evening bag. But, Hallie put a stop to that. She taught me that little bag made a big impact. The puzzle can’t be complete without the last piece, right?

The Easy Way to Clean and Organize Your Closet

Give yourself a cleanse, a closet cleanse.
Looking for an easy way to clean and organize your closet?? Since it’s cold outside, and we’re all in hibernation mode, instead of binge watching the latest and greatest, try a closet cleanse. In simple terms, clean out your stuff and organize your closet. Clean out the stuff that’s worn, dated, or just doesn’t fit anymore. Whatever the case may be, get rid of it.  It’s taking up valuable real estate space in your closet no matter how much or little space you have.

For a lot of people the thought of cleaning out and organizing your closet can be overwhelming beyond what your sanity can handle. In which case, call us, and we’ll do it for (with) you. But, for those of you willing to take the plunge, here are a few easy steps to get you started. We use these steps when we organize our clients, and in our own closets. They are tried and true.

The Affordable Wardrobe Staples I Wear On Repeat

My 5 Go-To, Non-Boring Wardrobe Staples
I was thinking about the pieces in my closet that were on the heaviest rotation. My favorites of 2017,  my best of list. The pieces that I go to over and over again that never disappoint. What surfaced were 5 go-to, non-boring wardrobe staples that always give my outfits that finishing touch. And the perk is THEY’RE ALL AFFORDABLE.

When I asked my go-to gal Elana to come up with her own list, guess what? Her list was pretty similar! The actual items we have aren’t the same, and our styles are not really the same (she’s younger, cooler and more edgy than me). And our shape and build isn’t the same either. But yet, these 5 pieces were each of our go-to’s. Hmmmmm. That got me thinking. What about these 5 wardrobe staples makes them so useful? And so versatile? IMHO, it’s because they’re pieces that easily add a little oomph to an outfit, BUT not so much oomph they couldn’t be worn again because they were just too memorable.

One important note…

The ONE Jean That Looks Good ON Everyone

The Jean You Need This Year
Every once in awhile we find something that we are completely obsessing over that ends up not just in our closets, but in many of our clients closets too. That means that the item is so good that it falls under the category of fitting into everyone’s style statement, whether classic, boho, funky, rocker, artsy, you name it. One of those things that is just SO GOOD that we have to share it with you. So ready for it…The Madewell Cali Jean. You guys, THEY. ARE. SO. GOOD and we’ll tell you why.

We don’t really like jean shopping for ourselves.  It’s not as bad as bathing suit shopping, but it’s a close second. We hate when they are too tight, or too loose.  If the rise is too low you get muffin top,  and if the rise is too high you can’t breath.  If the pocket placement isn’t just right the tush can end up looking like a hippo’s rear end, or flat as a pancake. Say good bye to all of these things with the Cali.

The Best Jean Ever
This sounds like an advertisement, but we swear on our life, it isn’t. In fact, we are pretty sure Madewell has no idea who we are… We’re sharing because that’s what we do. We’re match makers – between clothes and people – and this pair of jeans, so far, has fit EVERYONE!!

Big/ little, young/ old, tall/short – this jean is working for all…

The Best Winter Boots For Your Wardrobe

Winter Boots for Fashion and Function.

Ugh, the snow! Or, UGG the snow which makes you think of winter boots, right? Whether you like it or not, it’s here. Don’t let it snow on your fashion parade, though. Just as your winter coat (see the Winter Coat guide) can be both fashionable and functional so can your  boots. Keep your tootsies warm, toasty and dry this winter while you work and play and still be fashionable while you’re doing it.

How to shop for winter boots.

While shopping for your fashionable and functional winter boots, keep a few things in mind.

My Honest Thoughts on Beautycounter – And other safe beauty products I’m trying

My Honest Thoughts On Beautycounter
Besides feeling like a total dork taking these before and after selfies – I have to tell you, I’ve been pretty impressed with the Beautycounter Make up – Flawless in Five.

Beautycounter’s a brand that has been getting a ton of hoopla, because they have a great mission, one that’s a no brainer to align with – To get safer (beauty and skin) products into the hands of everyone. Who wouldn’t want that??.

But, and I had a big BUT, what if it didn’t perform well? An altruistic mission is great, but when it comes to a product, performance is pretty important too. What if  this make up was like the all natural under arm deodorant that left me kind of stinky? Good in theory, but not in reality. Then sadly, it’s a no go.

A Movement for Better Beauty
This summer I was invited to a Beautycounter event at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens but, walked out before the presentation even started ( I know, not nice of me).  I left because it felt too “salesy”…
