The Search For My Favorite White Jeans.

The Search for White Jeans

White jeans, OMG, what are you doing to me?!? And, btw, it’s Hallie. Why am I OMGing? Because I have been on the search for white jeans this season and it’s efffing hard to find a good pair. Honestly, I didn’t expect it. I’ve always loved my white jeans, they’re a staple. A great way to “summer-ize” an outfit. They go with all of the current spring colors. And, they’re a super good cheat for those places you’re not allowed to wear blue jeans, like the country club, but you still want to wear jeans, because like I said, they’re a staple.

But this search has been painful and prolonged and slightly depressing. My love of pasta and dislike of exercise has finally caught up with me.  I knew I had gained some weight (thank you slowed metabolism) and I knew I had gotten older (thank you gravity). But I had not realized the material on white jeans had become so dang thin!

As we’ve been meeting with clients planning their spring and summer wardrobes, the need for a favorite white jean has been coming up again and again. And so has the frustration in finding a pair. White jeans, sort of like white tee shirts, need to be replaced every few years. Even if you use oxi clean to wash, the white just does not stay pristine after a lot a wear. And wearing yellowed white jeans is just ewww.

So, I’m taking you on my journey because maybe you too are looking for a great pair of white jeans this season. And while some may not work for me, they may work for you. I’m going in depth here folks – I’ll give you the nitty gritty on each pair and the kind of body that seems to work with each. I’ve tried a BUNCH on, and I’ve had clients try a BUNCH on, and I have some thoughts…

What to look for in a White Jean

Finding a favorite white jean is hard. It is a tall order to fill:

-Thick enough fabric that doesn’t show every nook and cranny
-But thin enough fabric that it is warm weather appropriate so you’re not literally sweating your a** off
-Slim in the leg but not too skinny
-High enough rise that it stops muffin top
-But not too high rise that it looks weird in the crotch
-Doesn’t show the front pocket thru the jean – ugh I hate how that draws attention to a woman’s widest part
-And in 2018, hits at the ankle with a bit of a kick

Well the good news is my stress is your gain – For both clients and myself, I have ordered, felt, seen and tried (or seen on) on like 40 pairs of white jeans in the last few weeks. And, thankfully, I have found some winners!

Fashionable Raincoats That Actually Keep You Dry

Fashionable Rain Coats.

Last week it was raining in Cleveland, and I got caught in it. (Btw, this is Elana writing.) Let me rephrase. It was pouring buckets and I left the house and didn’t wear a rain coat because I don’t really like the one I have. It’s functional,  just not that fashionable. It’s more for walking the dog (which we don’t have) or hiking (which I don’t do). Ha!  I was talking to Hallie about it afterwards and it made us think.  There must be functional rain coats out there that are still fashionable at the same time. The kind of rain coats that you aren’t embarrassed to leave your neighborhood in.

Fashionable Rain Gear.

We started a search and found some pretty awesome coats. These coats might actually make you feel like you want it to rain, or at least not make you feel so glum when it does. While we were searching for these fashionable raincoats we found some pretty cool rain boots, and other rain gear, too. Rain gear that isn’t embarrassing to do more than walk the dog in. We’ve got you covered…

Why Black Pumps Are the Shoe Every Woman Needs in Her Closet

Black Pumps, Boring But Necessary.

Black  pumps. Are they boring? Kind of. But, are they necessary? Yes! This is one of those needs vs. wants things.  In the food pyramid of clothing,  a plain black pump falls into the veggie category, not the sweets category. Nobody really wants to eat them, but they need them to sustain a healthy body. Eating sweets would be way more fun. And the same goes for the black pump.

Most people don’t really want spend a chunk of their clothing budget on a “boring” shoe like the black pump, but it’s a building block in your wardrobe. In fact, if you invest in a plain black pump now it’ll save you money in the future. With the black pumps we’re talking about, you probably won’t need a different black pump for every occasion. When you have a classic pump in your closet that goes with just about everything,  just like your veggies, it will take you further than a piece of cake.

Black pumps are versatile.

Time and again we meet with clients that are missing this key element in their wardrobe.  We’ve realized maybe it’s time to give the classic black pump a little PSA. It’s one of those pieces it pays to invest in.  It will end up being one of, IF NOT the most versatile shoe in your wardrobe. It goes with just about everything from jeans, to dresses. It’s that versatile, and a classic if chosen correctly.

Rules for picking a classic black pumps…
