Ever Vintage Barrel Leg in washed out black

When my daughter Maggie said, “ohhh mom, did you get new jeans? They look great! Can I borrow them?” I knew I was on to something good.

These don’t break the bank, they’re that modern barrel leg cut without looking like you just got off a horse, and this washed-out black color goes with everything! I took my true size.

Beauty

Merit Makeup

I did some makeup shopping while in NYC. I’d been hearing about the Merit makeup brand for a while and it was a nice opportunity to see it in person and try out. Let me say, It’s living up to the hype!

The brow “mascara” pumps up my brows, holds them in place and IMHO looks way more natural than a pencil. It basically gives me the brows I had in 1980 before I went tweezer crazy! The mascara is a great tube formula so it does not smudge - I’d call it chiropractor proof! And the shadow, I picked a bold color, is lovely, easy and buildable, so it can be as subtle or dramatic as I like. I’m super impressed with all three items I tried and would absolutely recommend if you're in the market for some new makeup.

Entertainment

Nobody Wants This

Nobody wants this. Can we talk about the show everyone is talking about? Young, old, male, female, Jewish, gentile - everybody loves this feel-good romantic comedy. Erin Foster struck writing gold with this one. It’s about a Rabbi who falls in love with a non-Jewish podcaster who shares her dating life on air. I binged this in two sittings and smiled ear to ear the whole time.

Interestingly though, Maggie and I went to dinner with some mother/daughter friends who had also recently watched it, and they asked if Shiksa was a real word. Yes, it’s Yiddish, which means a non-Jewish woman. It’s used somewhat disparagingly in the show to talk about Joanne (the podcaster). One criticism I’ve heard, and that our dinner friends noticed too, was that Jewish women were terribly portrayed - mean, catty, insular - and I didn’t love that - but I’m hoping Erin Foster will correct that in season 2 - because it’s been renewed!!
