OUT WITH THE OLD/WORN/OR DAMAGED

A lot of us have pieces in our closet that are oldies but no longer goodies, it comes with the life cycle of clothing. Take this time to do a quick closet sweep and discard old sweaters that are looking worn and ball-y. Put aside anything with holes, and zipper/ button/ closure issues – if alterations will fix the problem then go for it! But, remember to follow through and take them to be fixed!

CONSIDER YOUR LIFE ROLES

Does your wardrobe reflect or cater to your life roles and activities? If not, make a list of those roles, and reflect on what is needed to make your wardrobe meet the needs and wants of your life. Going forward, try to shop with intention instead of impulse or desperation (we’re all guilty!).

UNIFORM HANGERS

I can’t tell you how much of a difference having the same hangers will make! Take some time to discard all the wire hangers you’ve accumulated from the dry cleaners this past year. We recommend these from Bed Bath and Beyond! They’re super slim so they save plenty of space, and are covered in a felt like material which helps garments from sliding off and ending up lost or on the floor.

Also check out these shelf dividers for your folded garments!

JEWELRY ORGANIZATION SYSTEM

There are lots of jewelry options out there but this one from Joyus has proven time, and time again, to be functional and easily accessible without compromising the aesthetic of your space!

HAND HELD STEAMER

This tool is a small investment with a huge impact! For days when ironing seems like too much or for those scary fabrics that you are worried you’ll burn or melt with an iron – a hand held steamer is the way to go! And the bonus of a hand held version is it’s easy to travel with. Check out this one from Target!

Do you have any wardrobe resolutions for 2014? If so, what are they? We’d love to hear…
