Who Doesn’t Love a Shopbop Sale?

This started as one of those quick posts. A down and dirty roundup of the best white t-shirts. And then I realized it was the Shopbop sale. And not only do I love me a good sale, but the Shopbop sale is ALWAYS a good one. If you’re a long-time reader you might remember I snagged the Lela Rose dress I wore for my daughter Maggie’s Bat-Mitzvah at this sale a few years ago. And that dress is still one of my most favorite pieces in my closet.

So, next week you can look for the best white t-shirts round up. And this week are my picks from the iconic Shopbop SALE!

This is how the sale works this time around… the SALE ENDS APRIL 16 AT 12:59pm (PACIFIC TIME)

Let’s Get Dressed Up – Spring Dresses for Passover + Easter

What a long, strange trip it’s been… With the one-year anniversary of the “two-week lockdown” to “flatten the curve”, it feels at once like both the longest and shortest year in history. Last year at this time, there was no thought of spring dresses. I was struggling to wrap my head around what quarantine meant in regards to the spring holidays (and life in general). And happily, this year, there’s hope.

There literally is an energy shift I’m feeling. Are you feeling it too? The weather is getting warmer, vaccines are becoming more available, people are joyful, and looking forward to connecting again! Just in time for the spring holidays too – Passover and Easter. Plus, the CDC said fully vaccinated grandparents can hug their grandchildren. So now we have a good reason to get dressed and celebrate!

Spring Dresses for Passover, Easter, Mother’s Day, Graduation, and more

For many years I’ve written a post on spring dresses for these holidays ( knowing that type of dress can be worn again for Mother’s Day, Graduation, bridal, and baby showers). There’s something about getting a new dress for a holiday that makes it feel extra special. Maybe it’s a throwback to childhood and going shopping with my mom and grandma for Passover dresses.

When I was little I’d need a new dress because I was “growing like a weed”. And the previous years’ dress was too short. This year, I’ve also grown, but not in the vertical direction!! So if you’re like me, and some of your favorite dresses from years past might not be fitting like they used to… don’t fret. Think of it as a time to celebrate your new size and do a little spring shopping. That’s precisely what I’m gonna do!

New Years Sale Shopping

Happy New Year, you guys! I don’t know if this is just wishful thinking but, it feels like we’re maybe, kinda, sorta, possibly getting closer to a place we can wear cute clothes again… Fingers and toes crossed! So, in the hopes of manifesting more social interactions (gosh, I miss people), I’m looking for some exciting things to pep up the old wardrobe. And what better than New Year’s sale shopping?

There are some CRAZY sale shopping savings happening right now (like up to 70% off!) So, consider this my cliff notes version (oh I really just dated myself – I believe they’re now called spark notes) to the sale stuff that’s out there and that might make a nice addition and help zhuzh up your looks.

There’s not a lot of rhyme or reason to these picks – just pieces that spoke to me. And in my experience, that’s the best way to shop a sale. It’s challenging to go in to a sale (or a thrift or consignment store for that matter) with a specific shopping list, because you’ll never quite know what you’ll find. For folks with shiny object syndrome like me, it’s a blast, and a treasure hunt in it’s truest form. But for those that like a purpose and are uncomfortable veering off course, sale shopping can be overwhelming. Thus, the handy, dandy cliff notes … and some tips.

Tips for Shopping a Sale

Just because it’s hard to shop a sale with a specific list, there can still be a plan of attack. Yes, have items in mind that you want and need to perk up your wardrobe. But if there is a piece that makes your heart soar, that’s not on your list, take time to consider it, thoughtfully.

How to Shop a Sale

The Cyber Week Sales Round-Up

To be totally honest I have never been a big Black Friday shopper. Possibly because I am still in a major food coma on the Friday after Thanksgiving. And because I don’t love the crowds. Shopping is a peaceful experience for me. And the pushing, elbow in the ribs, the survival of the fittest kind of thing is not peaceful IMHO. But Cyber Week Sales, now that I can get into…

The whole switch from standing on-line at 5 am on Black Friday in order to save big and receive a door prize giveaway, to Cyber Week sales shopping from the comfort of my own couch has turned me (sort of) into a Black Friday(ish) shopper.

A Cheat Sheet for Cyber Week

There’s a part of me that feels like this post is a cop-out. I am EXHAUSTED and the holiday crazies haven’t even started. But I figured I’d love a comprehensive list of what sales are happening when. And maybe you would too. So that’s what I’m doing… let me know if you like it (or not). The format is a little different but I hope it can serve as a cheat sheet for you to alleviate at least some of the stress of the holiday crazies for you this season.

We’ll make this short and sweet – here’s what we love. The good stuff goes fast so dilly dally at your own risk.

Designer Sales are happening NOW – Here’s what to get where.

The holiday crazies are over, and the designer SALES are ON! Especially at upscale retailers with HUGE savings on designer pieces. We are talking up to 80% off in some cases!

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when shopping these designer sales.

1. With major savings, some items can only be returned for credit or are final sale. This is pretty typical when you’re getting something at 50% off or more. These are amazing pieces at amazing savings,  so it’s totally worth it if you know your size etc and/or if you’ll shop there in the future.

2. And sizes are limited and going fast. So yes, you might love something but so does someone else… it might be gone soon.
The bottom line is, we try to take care of you guys – our loyal readers. So, as we’ve been shopping these designer sales for clients, we’ve been shopping with you in mind too.

Here’s a roundup of what to get where.

We’re running this post early because the Banana Republic Sale ENDS NOVEMBER 6 at MIDNIGHT!!

Yes, I know this is delivering to your inbox Sunday instead of Tuesday. But for good reason. FIRST,  to remind you to make sure you go out and VOTE on Tuesday!! Because your vote counts!!! And apathy ain’t gonna make any changes happen, and we need change! SO PLEASE VOTE! And second,  to reward yourself for fulfilling your civic duty with a little online sale shopping at Banana Republic, sounds like a really good plan, right??? BTW, the sale ends Tuesday at Midnight – so get on it!

You might be thinking, Banana Republic? Really? That store feels like a great place to shop for work clothes but I need…    But  I think most of you, like most of our clients, want pieces in their wardrobes that can serve multiple purposes. Like a blouse, you can wear to the office, or a volunteer meeting but then also wear out on a Saturday night too. And that’s what we’ve found at Banana Republic and it’s all on crazy sale AND it comes in petite and tall sizes too. So, YOU ARE WELCOME!!

Anthropologie, There’s a lot to Love right now

Back in June, I wandered into our local  Anthropologie and actually walked out with a big old bag of clothes! For myself that is! That doesn’t usually happen for me there. The Anthro aesthetic is somewhat girly and romantic and that’s not typically how I’d describe my vibe. Don’t get me wrong, I have a ton of success there with my clients whose style falls in the elevated boho and feminine realm. But for me, personally, the pieces never really become part of my repertoire… Until now.

I’m not sure if they’ve changed or I have…I used to go into Anthro and everything I put on felt like I was wearing a costume. Again, I loved it on other people, but I felt like I couldn’t pull it off. In the last couple of seasons though, the collections feel a little more toned down and tailored. Some things even border on edgy. At the same time, my horizons are expanding. Adding details like color and patterns seems fresh these days. My inner boho has been set free!!

Basically, I’ve been living in (and loving) my haul from earlier this summer. The good news is many of the items are still available AND a lot are even on sale!! Stores are gearing up for fall with cashmere and cords, but there’s a lot of warmer weather still to be had, even for those of us that live in the snow belt!
