Wear RED This Friday
The color RED. It makes us think of love… Red roses, red hearts, Valentines Day – it’s like the poster child color for the month of February. It’s also THE color to wear this Friday, February 2 to show support for the American Heart Association. Why? Because this Friday is GRFW Day (Go Red For Women). The American Heart Association is encouraging people to wear RED to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and to help save lives. By wearing RED you can join in the fight against heart disease and stroke. It’s a little something you can do to show support, because when we come together, there’s nothing we can’t do.
Picture it – a whole sea of people, nation wide, wearing RED – it’s powerful and it’s pretty – just like women.
Chances are you know someone affected by heart disease and stroke, because about 2200 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day. That’s in average of one death every forty seconds. Cardiovascular diseases, which includes stroke, claim the lives of about one woman every 80 seconds unnecessarily — because about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be preventable with education and action. Raise awareness and fund the fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke.
If your closet is like most peoples, it’s probably somewhat void of color. That’s ok. No judgement here. But, if you want to show your support for heart health by wearing RED, you may need to buy something. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered… (btw, it’s Hallie writing this week). I scoured the Macy’s website and picked out some fabulous red pieces if you’re on the hunt for something RED, everything is under $250 and most are under $100 – so it’s as easy as 1, 2, click and support.
Macy’s is a sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign, and they have some great looking RED items to wear this Friday and all year round. So, do good, look good, feel good and join the movement – wear RED this Friday ladies and support heart health.
Wondering What to Wear? Try This…
You can wear RED head to toe or just add it as a pop of color – however you’re comfortable incorporating it into your outfit, it’s shows your support.
A red lace cardigan can be worn on GRFW day and beyond. Wear it over all black on Feb. 2 and then wear it over the summer paired with jeans, a white tank and nude sandals for a 4th of July picnic.
This genius sweater has the cape/wrap built in so you won’t be fussing trying to keep your wrap on your shoulders all night. Major love!
A longer jacket is a favorite of ladies that like to keep their bum covered and the bonus is, it creates a long, lean look. The sleek lines and collarless design of this one keeps it looking sophisticated and not sloppy.
This blazer is ideal for work or play, thanks to the playful, military feel of the buttons.
Jumpsuits are the ultimate one and done. And the unexpected color combo of pink and red is perfectly on point for now and definitely come spring 2018.
The drape detail on this one shoulder jumpsuit gives it extra points because you don’t have to suck your tummy in after having a couple glasses of bubbly. Three cheers for that! Sizes are limited in red, but it comes in a bunch of other colors too (to wear on other occasions of course).
I love the lady like lines of this shift dress. The lace detail at the neck and shoulder help make it not too proper and uptight. One style note tho… I’d recommend wearing it with a nude or metallic shoe to make it a less harsh transition from dress to leg to shoe than the black as shown below.
This red dress is perfect for any black tie affair. And, at $250 with a 5 star review, it almost seems too good to be true. Pair it with the Judith Leiber evening bag from last weeks post and your outfit is complete.
A high/low cut and a draped waist gives this dress a feminine feel with out being overly sexy. Same style note as above… Pair it with a nude or metallic shoe rather than black.
If you don’t want to commit to an entire red outfit on Friday, maybe try adding a cool tote like this to show your support. Perfect for work papers, gym stuff or even to use as a beach bag.
It doesn’t need to be GRFW day to carry this bag. The pop of red color will give any outfit a bit of life, year round.
This soft scarf can be used as a wrap or a traditional neck scarf. It’ll look great over a LBD for the GRFW luncheon Friday (ticket details here) and then it’ll also be perfect to take on any airplane trip because it can double as a cozy blanket.News boy caps are a total fashion do. And a great cheat on a day you don’t have time to wash your hair too (ummm, that was me yesterday). I have a hair cut scheduled on Thursday, otherwise, I might be wearing this to the luncheon on Friday…
This red necklace totally reminds me of a piece I saw at the flea market this summer. All vintage-y in a super cool way.I have to be honest, I did not realize Macy’s carried Gucci. I guess that makes them part of the #GucciGang. Anyway, I’d happily sport this sporty watch in support of heart health. I dare you to say that 5 times fast!
Slouchy boots are making a big come back – Saint Laurent started the trend in fall of 2017 with an embellished pair costing $10,000, yup, you read that right. The price is crazy but the silhouette is here to stay for a while. They look good with dresses or over skinny jeans and give your outfit a cool vibe. This pair is more attainable at $130 – be sure to size up tho, they run a bit small.
How fun are these butterfly pumps? While they come in black and pewter, this red (called lipstick) is my personal favorite.
The block heel and slightly pointed toe on these pumps makes them functional (as in easy to wear) and fashionable (as in current and cute).
If you’re interested in going to the event this Friday, February 2, ticket details are here. I’ll be there, wearing RED. The only question now is, which of these to wear?
