An Honest Review of Brow Microblading and My Newest Girl Crush
Microblade Magician
Earlier this year, I was on a quest to find the best eyebrow microblade artist in the CLE. This is how it went down... Everywhere I want I asked makeup artists, hair professionals, estheticians, and girls with good arches who they recommended for microblading. The name, Allison Seltzer kept coming up. So, I followed her on Instagram (@Allison Seltzer) to kind of snoop and scope her work out. And what I found was natural-looking brow enhancement. Yessssss! Bye-bye brow pencil – Hello wake up and brows!
I agreed to be a guinea pig for all of you, and partnered with Allison for this post – but, rest assured, there is no way she’d be a girl crush or be getting all these shout outs if the end product was just meh. As always, opinions are 100% my own.
Allison took the time to explain the process and decide what shape and color would be best. And, also made sure it was pain-free. If you follow The Wardrobe Consultant on IG you may have already seen the before and after brow pics. BUT the details of the process and the artist (Allison) are blog only.
The bottom line is Allison is super cool. She’s into meditation, thrifting, and her craft as a brow artist. Total. Girl. Crush!
The Brow Microblading Process
Bet you have a ton of questions, I did – and Allison’s got answers.
Why did you choose brows and microblading?
I’m a Microblade artist. I’m passionate about microblading because it gives me, as an artist, a chance to cosmetically enhance my clients’ eyebrows. The results are instant and unique to each person. TWC note – My results were immediate and natural. NO brow pencil needed, AT ALL! My brows didn’t flake or peel, although that can happen in the healing process.
How does brow microblading work?
Brow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo that lasts anywhere between a year to a year and a half. Depending on your skin type and at-home skincare routine. The result is a very soft natural looking eyebrow. Instead of a traditional eyebrow tattoo that looks solid.
TWC note – The feathery strokes produced by blading look much more natural than brow pencil or traditional tattoos.
The details...
The cost is $400 and that includes a touch-up generally done 6 to 8 weeks later.
The service takes about two hours. TWC note – My friend in NYC recently had this same service done for over $2000!!! Like the exact same service. So, even if you do not live in CLE it might be worth it to fly in and have Allison do her magic, just sayin’. FYI, brows were darker the first day or two and have lightened up.
Cool girls know about cool stuff. So, Allison is dishing on her favorite things:
1. Dino Palmieri Salon and Spa
I love it because it’s was my home for almost 20 years! I’m so lucky because I was surrounded by some of the most creative and talented people in Cleveland.
2. Patchouli oil
I’m obsessed with the smell of this oil. It’s so warm and spicy! It always makes me smile. TWC note – for those that like a toned-down patchouli mixed with sandalwood, I’m obsessed with this body oil.
3. NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
Because I really only wear mascara, I depend on the instant impact a bold lip can give me. These lipsticks are great because they come in every color and once applied stay on all day.
My favorite color is Cherry Skies. A deep blue-red.
4. Rockstar Jeans from Old Navy
I’m so in love with these jeans. They have just the right amount of stretch. They are super soft and come in a ton of colors. TWC note – I first posted about these jeans in 2012! This year we’re loving the dirty black color pictured below.
5. My Meditation Practice
Meditation Made Simple by Russel Simmons. There’s an app I keep it on my phone so I can meditate daily for about 10 minutes.
Hope this answered your Microblading questions and that you’re crushing hard on Allison too. I’m is super happy with the results – bye-bye brow pencil.
