The Fail-Proof Fashion Formula I Use When I’m Feeling Blah
This is one of those easy style tips that seems so simple once you know it. But until you’re let in on the secret, it can be kind of baffling. I think Oprah Winfrey used to call them one of those “Ah-Ha moments.”
This is my go-to formula for feeling put together on those days when I’m at a loss about what to wear or just feeling kind of blah. The beauty of it is that it’s not complicated, looks good on everybody AND the elements are likely in your closet already.
So, I’m gonna make this week’s blog post short and sweet, and get right to the point.
Here’s the “secret” outfit formula…
The Rich Color Combo You Need to Know About
The combination of black, white, and brown, together in one outfit, creates an effortless yet rich look that anyone can pull off. Even though this formula is super easy, there are some subtleties to keep in mind that makes this combo work (or not.).
Black, white and brown
Not a dark chocolate, coffee brown (there is not enough difference between that and the black) but rather more of a toffee, luggage brown.
The colors can be in any sequence
Black top, white pants, brown shoes. Or black top and bottom, brown topper, white shoes. You get the idea…
Accessories can also be the way to add your third color
For example, a brown bag, shoes, scarf, etc.
This color formula works with all fabrics
Whether you’re going for a dressy look or a more casual outfit, this formula works! Silk, linen, and wool, or cotton and denim.
The bottom line is this formula takes the basic black and white outfit up a notch (or three)!
