Quilted Coats – The “It” Jacket Right Now

Quilted Coats

Why a Quilted Coat?

Any trend or “it” list  you read for fall/winter this season is talking about quilting. Adding a touch of quilting to your wardrobe is an easy way to freshen things up. And while the idea of a quilted skirt is very fashion forward and looks stunning on a runway - in reality, it’s not that practical or useful in most of our everyday lives. Am I right?

But a quilted coat… Now that is practical and useful and chic. And on top of it, no matter the weather where you live, a quilted jacket can work for your life. For instance, if you reside somewhere like me (in Cleveland, OH where we have 4 distinct seasons - one of which is super cold and snowy) a quilted coat is the perfect fall (or spring) coat. It’s a transitional weather workhorse. And if you’re one of the lucky ones that lives in a more temperate climate, then a quilted coat is all you need for your “colder” months and evenings.

And the beauty of the quilted jacket trend is that they literally come in all shapes, sizes and price points making it easy-peasy to find the one that’s right for you.

All Quilted Coats are NOT the Same

Another point to note, a quilted jacket is not the same as a puffer. Yes, some puffers are quilted. However, in essence, the design integrity of a quilted coat is sleeker and less Michelin Man than a puffer. The vibe of a quilted coat can range from english country side frolicking to super high fashion downtown cool - it’s all about the silhouette and how it’s styled.

The bottom line: adding a quilted coat to your outerwear wardrobe right now is a good idea!
