Crisp New Pickles
A 5-Minute Recipe with Maximum ROI
I absolutely adore a crisp, deli-style pickle, and so does my family. However, I'm all about achieving maximum results in the kitchen with minimal effort. That's why this recipe, adapted from Baked by Melissa with my own tweaks, has such a huge ROI. In just 5 minutes, you can whip up a jar of pickles so good that I've even started bringing them as hostess gifts!
The Crisp New Pickles Recipe
Yields: 1 Jar (24 oz)
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Refrigeration Time: 48 hours
Ingredients:
1 Mason Jar (24 oz)
Filtered Water
Persian Cucumbers
Peeled Whole Garlic Cloves
Kosher Salt
Fresh Dill (optional)
Peppercorns (optional)
Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
Instructions
Prep the Jar: Place 5-7 peeled garlic cloves at the bottom of the Mason jar.
Add Seasonings: Sprinkle 1.5 tablespoons of Kosher salt into the jar. If desired, add 2-3 sprigs of fresh dill, 5 peppercorns, and ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
Pack the Cucumbers: Jam in 5-7 Persian cucumbers. The number will depend on their size, so try to fit as many as you can without crushing them.
Fill and Shake: Fill the jar to the top with filtered water, ensuring all cucumbers are submerged. Secure the lid tightly and give the jar a good shake to distribute the salt and seasonings.
Refrigerate and Enjoy: Refrigerate the jar for 48 hours. After that, your crisp, garlicky pickles are ready to enjoy!
Tips and Substitutions:
Seasoning Adjustments: Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your liking. Even without the dill, peppercorns, and red pepper flakes, these pickles will still be incredibly crisp and flavorful thanks to the garlic.
Convenience is Key: I buy pre-peeled garlic cloves and Persian cucumbers to make this recipe even quicker and easier.
Gifting Idea: These pickles make a fantastic hostess gift! Simply tie a ribbon around the jar and attach a cute label with the recipe.
This Crisp New Pickles recipe is a testament to the fact that deliciousness doesn't have to be complicated. With minimal effort and readily available ingredients, you can create pickles that rival those from your favorite deli. Whether you're enjoying them as a snack, adding them to sandwiches, or gifting them to friends, these pickles are sure to be a hit. Happy pickling!
