The “What To Get List” to Update Your Wardrobe

Last week I started my Fall 2018 “what to get list” with my first two picks: #1 Leopard print and  #2 Western wear.  I thought the post totally made sense, but I heard from a few of you (and I’m grateful that I did) that it just didn’t come out as clear as I had intended it to. I apologize for being confusing and would like to clarify… Leopard print and Western wear are JUST TWO of my picks to update your current wardrobe. There are 8 total easy updates that I’m jonesing for, but I’m chunking them into 2 recs a week. Why? Because depending on who you are and what your style, life, body, and budget are, you may want to add just a few or all of them to your fall/winter wardrobe.

The purpose of the “what to get list” is to give you a quick and easy look at a few things (8 to be exact) you can add, that’ll have you feeling updated and current this season. There’s no reason to start from scratch every season – with a well-balanced wardrobe, most things should mix and match to make multiple outfits for the various areas of your life. The “what to get list” has the key pieces or trends to add that give new life to your current tried and true clothes.

A Little Goes A Long Way

Just like adding a pinch of salt to finish off a dish, adding just a little of something from our Fall 2018 “what to get list” will update and finish off your wardrobe for the season. Like salt, you don’t need a lot because a little goes a long way, and it adds that extra oomph to the dish. But if you add too much, it’s bad for you and your dish. And the same goes for your wardrobe.  If you over saturate with trendy items it’s just too much, so sprinkle lightly.

Back to the Leopard and Western confusion from last week and HOW TO actually wear it. If you’re more conservative, add just a touch of Leopard OR Western. They can each be worn on their own without the other one and look super cool and current. But if you’re a fashion-forward, pushing the envelope kinda girl, and want to add more interest to your outfit,  wear them together because these prints tend to play nicely together. But again, just like salt tooooo much isn’t a good thing, use these trends sparingly – that’s the beauty of the “what to get list”, a little of each can have a lot of impact.  Any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ here for ya’, and appreciate you reading!

So, consider this week PART 2 OF 4. “What to Get” to update your wardrobe for Fall 2018:

# 3 – The Color Green

#4 – Micro prints

Style Tips For Wearing The Color Green.

This green is bright and pretty. It’s like Kermit The Frog green.

  1. There are a lot of greens out there. Pick one that’s best with your skin tone to stay true to who you are. You don’t want to look like you’re sick.

  2. Layer your green. Mix a bright green with a deeper shade of green for a rich and pretty look.

  3. Keep it in the family. Green goes back to other jewel tones like amethyst, ruby, and sapphire.

Style Tips For Wearing Micro Prints.

Micro prints are the updated version of the big bold floral print. I think that people have shied away from micro prints for fear of looking a little too Laura Ashley, or Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie. But don’t be scared. Micro prints can be edgy, classic, boho, you name it. Regardless of your style, you can rock it, too. Here’s how.

        1.  Stay true to yourself, which is the most important thing. If you’re edgy pop a leather jacket over a micro print blouse. Or wear it with a pair of combat boots. It’ll give the print the edge you’re looking for.

         2. If you’re classic try a micro print top with a cardigan and a pair of wide-leg pants

         3. If you’re somewhere in between try a micro print dress with a solid blazer.

Adding a pinch of these picks to your existing wardrobe will give it that extra zing – just like salt. Next week I’m tackling #5 and #6 on the list – have any idea what they are? I’ll give you a hint… it has to do with pants…
